Outcomes From Patients Who Came to Dr. Tehrany

Real patients, real procedures, real results. These stories reflect what you can expect from care at Manhattan Orthopedic Care.

Meniscus Repair Walter Lamar, meniscus repair patient
★★★★★

"Dr. Tehrany performed a wonderful meniscus repair on my knee and I was back on my feet in no time. My recovery was seamless, the pain was gone. There was no doubt I would go back for my second knee, and the second surgery was just as successful as the first."

Knee Arthroscopy Dorothy Best with Dr. Tehrany after knee arthroscopy
★★★★★

"I'm able to do more than what I used to do before the surgery."

Dorothy Best

Knee Arthroscopy

★★★★★

"Dr. Tehrany just performed my third knee arthroscopy and with confidence I can say this was my best experience yet. My former experience with larger orthopedic hospitals included slow response times and bureaucratic steps. MOC was all about efficiency. My knee work was conducted 8 days after it exploded in pain. The technicalities and expected outcomes were all explained to me in crystal clear terms."

Arthroscopic Knee Surgery We Perform

Dr. Tehrany specializes in minimally invasive arthroscopic procedures, meaning smaller incisions, less downtime, and faster recovery compared to traditional open surgery. Each procedure is tailored to the individual patient's injury and activity goals.

ACL

ACL Reconstruction

Repairs a torn anterior cruciate ligament using a graft to restore knee stability and function. Allows athletes and active individuals to return to sports and daily activities with confidence.

Meniscus

Meniscus Repair

Sutures torn cartilage to preserve healthy knee function and shock absorption. Patients recover with reduced pain and a higher chance of full return to activity compared to removal alone.

Arthroscopy

Knee Arthroscopy

A minimally invasive procedure used to diagnose and treat a range of knee conditions. Smaller incisions mean shorter recovery times and less disruption to surrounding tissue.

Cartilage

Arthroscopic Chondroplasty

Smooths worn cartilage surfaces, restoring joint function and reducing pain. Supports long-term knee mobility and overall comfort through a minimally invasive approach.

Loose Body

Loose Body Removal

Removes bone or cartilage fragments floating within the joint that cause pain and limit range of motion. Patients often experience immediate improvement in mobility after this procedure.

Microfracture

Microfracture Drilling

Creates tiny perforations in the bone to stimulate new cartilage growth and improve joint health. Best suited for isolated chondral defects where natural repair is possible.

Meniscectomy

Knee Meniscectomy

Removes damaged cartilage while preserving as much healthy meniscus tissue as possible. An outpatient procedure that relieves pain and helps patients return to daily activities quickly.

Patella

Lateral Release and Medial Imbrication

Addresses patellar tracking issues by correcting the alignment of the kneecap. Relieves persistent pain and instability caused by tight or misaligned tissues around the patella.

Your Recovery After Knee Surgery

Recovery varies by procedure and individual health. Dr. Tehrany builds a personalized plan for every patient, with check-ins at each milestone to ensure you stay on track toward full function.

Day of Surgery

Procedure and Discharge

Most arthroscopic knee procedures are performed on an outpatient basis. Patients are discharged the same day when the nature of the injury allows.

24 Hours After

First Check-in

Dr. Tehrany's team conducts a 24-hour post-operative check-in. Staff are reachable before and after surgery to address any questions or concerns.

Weeks 2 to 6

Active Rehabilitation

Physical therapy and progressive weight bearing begin. Milestones are set at weeks 2 and 6 to track range of motion, strength, and pain levels.

Week 12 and Beyond

Return to Full Activity

By week 12, most patients have returned to daily activities and many to sports. Full return to high-impact activity depends on procedure type and individual recovery pace.

Every recovery plan at Manhattan Orthopedic Care includes a written timeline, milestone check-ins, and direct access to Dr. Tehrany's team throughout the process.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral to see Dr. Tehrany?
No referral is needed. You can call our office directly or book online, and we will schedule your consultation typically within the same week. This is one of the key advantages of an independent private practice over a hospital system.
What insurances does Manhattan Orthopedic Care accept?
We accept most major insurances including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, United Healthcare, Oxford, Empire Plan, GHI, Magnacare, and many others. Our staff will verify your insurance when you call and walk you through your coverage before your visit.
Will I always need surgery for a knee injury?
Not necessarily. Many knee conditions improve with physical therapy, bracing, or other conservative measures. Dr. Tehrany explores non-operative options first whenever appropriate, and surgery is only recommended when it is clearly the best path forward for your specific injury and goals.
Can I bring existing MRI scans or imaging?
Yes. Dr. Tehrany reviews existing MRI scans and imaging personally and provides second opinions for patients who have received diagnoses elsewhere. Bring any records or images you have to your consultation.
How soon can I be seen for an urgent knee injury?
We prioritize urgent injuries. In many cases, patients with acute knee injuries can be seen within 24 to 48 hours. Call us directly at (212) 729-9200 and explain the nature of your injury for the fastest scheduling.
Are telemedicine appointments available?
Yes. Virtual consultations are available for patients who prefer an initial remote evaluation or who are unable to visit the office in person. Online booking is available 24 hours a day at mocnyc.com.
